I started our program in 1981 when our first daughter was born. I received a degree in Early Childhood Education with Honors. In 2003 I received my Site Supervisor Permit with the State of California. I am an Author of a Training Manual titled "Starting a Family Child Care Business" that is used in our local college Child Development classes and at Child Action, Inc.
Our program became Nationally Accredited with the National Association for Family Child Care in 2003. I am an "Observer" for NAFCC (National Association for Family Child Care). I'm observing for Child Action, Inc., and Contra Costa Child Care Council for Accreditation. I sit on the Early Childhood Education Advisory Committee @ Sacramento City College since 2004. I am a "Certified Trainer" for West Ed. PITC (Programs for Infant Toddler and Caregivers). I'm a Professional Growth Advisor since 2001 with C.D.T.C. (Child Development Training Consortium) and enjoy mentoring students at the college level as well as providers starting and continuing their business.
I have the opportunity of being an ECERS Specialist for Child Action, Inc. "Observing" Centers and Family Child Care programs in California whom are applying for stipends, while improving the quality of child care services. I enjoy being a Trainer with Child Action, Inc. providing teachers & providers on the latest Child Development teachings and practices. I became a "Certified CLASS Observer" which means "Classroom Assessment Scoring System" a tool to assess classroom quality in preschool through third-grade classrooms for SETA Head Start schools.
I'm a "Mentor Teacher" with Los Rios College District, providing opportunities for students to complete 60 hours of practicum in our classroom while enrolled in the ECE Advanced Practicum course each semester. The students are asked to do specific learning activities with the children. It is also required that students collect notes and photos of this experience for a self-reflective paper and presentation to their class, while gaining valuable experience working with children.
I currently sit on the "Mentor Caucus Steering Committee" I report ECE information to the North Central Regional Representatives and present at the CAEYC Conferences, Mentor Retreat and Mentor Institute yearly.
It isn't enough to just work in this field and get an education for me, I truly love giving back to other caregivers in our field which exponentially helps children I would otherwise never meet. I have been dedicated to this field of serving families and their young and would love to serve your families as well. Our parents and extended families are the reason our program is so wonderful. Sharing ideas and concepts together keeps us on the cutting edge, and continually growing and developing into a wonderful preschool. I was encouraged to develop a website with others in mind so with that we would like to invite you to observe our school a see if it is the right fit for your family. A high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.
We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver your family the best quality service in child care.
